An Introduction
It is of utmost importance that all components in a fire-resistant
glazing system are fire rated and compatible. Whole systems
would be deemed to fail should any single item within them
ignite on the face-away side for more than ten seconds or
allow a small gap in a system through which flames or ignitable
gases can pass.
Ceramic tape is an ideal and economical medium for glazing
most types of fire resisting glasses and panels, both insulated
and non-insulated. The availability of CGI International 'K'
Tape allows easy use for site or factory glazing. The tape
is produced in 10 metre rolls, self adhesive on one side with
removable backing paper to allow acurate and quick frame alignment.
Straight butted joints are acceptable for fire rating and
for external weatherproofing or appearance the tape can be
immediately capped with a non-combustible mastic.
Tested Standards
In the United Kingdom, CGI International 'K' Tape has been
extensively tested as part of glazed systems of steel and
timber to BS 476 Part 22 (some other tests are to Part 8).
In other countries, CGI International 'K' Tape has been tested
to equivalent national standards; in Germany (DIN 4102), Switzerland,
France, Austria etc.
